LGBTQ+
It is my firm belief that everyone should feel free to be exactly who they feel they are meant to be, without judgement from anyone. Everyone has the right to explore how they want to express their identity in a safe and supportive environment. I have been the advisor to the Marysville GSA since 2016. I am continually inspired by the talented and dedicated students who make up the GSA each year.
GSA
Our GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) is a group of middle school students who meet weekly during recess/lunch to discuss issues such as gender identity and expression, and sexual orientation in a safe, supportive space. All middle school students (and teachers) interested in working to end homophobia and transphobia are welcome to attend.
Find more about Portland Public Schools' stance on LGBTQ issues in their FAQ page. A PPS legal memorandum on supporting our transgender students can be found here. |
