In regard to social distancing, I recently heard someone explain it to their child like this: By slowing down and keeping space between ourselves and others, we are helping to slow the virus from spreading. We are also helping all the doctors and nurses do their jobs. When we are in the car driving down the road and an ambulance comes by with its lights flashing, all the cars pull over to the side of the road to let them pass, right? We pull over not because we are afraid of the ambulance but because we want to help it do it's job. Social distancing is kind of like pulling over for an ambulance. We are staying home not because we are afraid but because we want to help everyone stay healthy and get the care they need from the doctors and nurses if they need it. |
